I think I have twelve of these. The sign came up saying the images are too large to post and I'm not sure how to change size of images. They were found in a deerskin tiny purse under the floorboards of a demolished log cabin in northern Ontario

I can't read any of the words on the coins. Are the words in English?
Great story about finding them under the floor boards. It makes you wonder what happened to the person who hid them.

    From this link:

"It's an Irish coinweight, used for checking the weight of coin in a transaction. Obverse legend: THE STANDARD OF IRELAND. The number under the D stands for pennyweights, and the number under the G for grains."

"And the reverse legend begins with ANNO; the Roman numeral of the regnal year should follow, then the monarch's name, then the date at the top."

As for the scarcity, they are not common but they appear to be in pretty well worn condition which would mean they had very modest numismatic value in that condition.

    Do not clean them.

There are coin weight collectors but not nearly as many as coin collectors.

Thank you all. Moreotherstuf...amazing information. I wonder if the cabin where they were found may have been a store or trading spot at he time. The owner a merchant of sorts. thanks again
