Featured Could this be scrimshaw and is this a NA mark? TYIA

wondering about this piece. It reminds me of scrimshaw but… the mark also resembles a Native American mark. Recognize it?

Knee jerk is 1970s when Art Nouveau was all the rage. I like it !

 

For some reason I thought I remembered the sun ray marks on a NA webpage. Can’t find the page again just yet. It does have a very Art Nouveau look on the image. I like it too!

I'm skeptical that a NA person would put an Anglo on a piece.

 

It could be a high-grade "Deadhead" piece, i.e. made by a hippie silversmith for sale at Grateful Dead shows. There was a whole subculture of crafters who made a living that way. Or at least ticket prices. I've never heard of a Native silversmith who'd use an Anglo girlie picture on a ring.
