Could this be emerald?

    Good morning,

    I'm wondering if this looks like it could be emerald? The stone is translucent. The metal is stamped .925. The band turned a rosey gold color after polishing it. Does anyone know why that could have happened? Any ideas on what style of ring this is? or when it may be from? Thank you!

    An emerald of this size & clarity would not be set in a silver ring; good ones can cost more than so-so diamonds. Of natural stones, tourmaline & chrome diopside are candidates. It's so vivid, think I would favor the latter, but glass cannot be ruled out & we can't tell from here, at least not from these photos.

    I ssupect it isn't silver, despite that 925, but plated. Hence the base copper showing through.

    Take to Jewelry store. I have ring stamped .925 silver. Jewelry was fake. They are getting real good at impostors. Then he brought out 50 or more of silver coins all marked in bag of all fakes people purchased from ebay and tried to re-sell at the local coin shop.
