Featured Could this $2 necklace really be platinum?

I've had this necklace stored with some sterling chains, but always thought it seemed different because it's heavier, shinier, and doesn't have a bit of tarnish. Platinum and 18K testing acid didn't affect it; however, the acid is a few years old, so maybe it's no longer effective (a new kit will arrive next week).

I looked at platinum chain necklaces on eBay, and saw a few that are similar, but none with an Asian signature (or is it a hallmark). Has anyone seen anything similar and/or have an opinion as to whether this is definitely platinum, and how old it is?

It appears to say 金福 which is likely a makers mark. If your acid is out of date then it's not really much use in detecting what the construction is.

I'm confused....Kyratango's translation says platinum, Ce BCA says it's likely a maker's mark.

My translation only shows what are the characters for platinum... Not the same as the second of yours!

Sorry, I didn't understand your French terms in relation to the Chinese images/characters.

The rectangle pieces were cast and look like junk with casting bubbles. Platinum jewelry is rhodium plated by many manufacturers.

Thank you, @Any Jewelry. I found a similar bar link necklace (platinum) that sold on eBay and had a link next to the spring ring clasp that looked like it might have markings similar to mine. Unfortunately the seller's semi-closeup photo was blurry and the listing only described it as antique/estate platinum.

So I sent a message to the seller with a photo of my necklace with the signed bar link asking if the seller could tell me if his/her sold necklace had similar marks. The seller is a jewelry consignment company in Miami with 60,000 100% positive feedback, so they're probably too busy to respond, but thought I'd try anyway.

If I don't hear anything further, I'll try testing the necklace again next week when I have a new bottle of platinum testing acid. If it still tests as platinum, I'll probably take it to a jeweler I've used before who has an XRF analyzer to make sure--she doesn't charge for one item, but it involves a 60-mile round trip.

Thank you so much, @Kaiserpoo, for the translation and the probable maker. I looked at the website and read the interesting history of Fook's Jewelry. It reminded me of a Hong Kong jewelry company where my husband had a ring made for me in 1969 when he was in the U.S.Navy. He gave the jeweler a drawing I had sent with him and went back a few days later to pick up the finished ring.

Have you checked to see if it's magnetic yet?
