Cool parrot lamp info

Ran across this cool lamp at thrift store. Pics dont due it justice. About 4ft tall fairly heavy porcelain maybe very colorful couldnt find any writing or marks. Any help? Take all guesses I can including value asking $40 which way over the $5 I am generously allotted by her greatness. Just kidding kinda. Thx

 

Colt, I don't know quite what to say about that lamp... but, isn't that a PEACOCK, not a parrot?

 

Not sure now lol. Never thought about peacock but still going with parrot. Parrots cooler birds...lol. You dont like it?

 

Colt, I wouldn't know where to put it - OR what kind of shade to use!

Personally, I think they're BOTH kind of cool!

 

I prefer parrots too, or even better, cockatoos, but this is a peacock.

 

I think its plaster,got a pic of the bottom? It makes a statement,thats for sure.

 

I'm going with the crowd, that is definitely a peacock.

I would have snatched it up in a heartbeat & then regretted it later because it is going to be a bear to ship.

However if you are going to sell it locally someone is going to fall in love with this lamp. People love peacocks & this is way too funky.

 

Fenghuang- Chinese myth: an ancient bird that had the head of a pheasant, body of a mandarin duck, tail of a peacock, legs of a crane, mouth of a parrot, and the wings of a swallow. Her head represented the sky, her eyes the sun, her back the moon, her wings the wind, her feet the earth, and her tail the planets. Only appeared in places that were blessed with peace and prosperity.
I can't quite tell, but I think I see a long leg on the bird on lamp. (Which I don't think would be a peacock)

Thx all. I dont own lamp but want to its now at $30. Shade comes with it didn't take pic. Bottom had felt. Love comments but telling you its a darn parrot! Lol..its prob peacock but I didn't think they hung out in trees much. Hoping someone know if it's collectible or rare etc...if it is I can justify buying it with the boss. If Not, it's going be bear getting and keeping it in house! What about this beauty I snuck in anyone know anything about it?

 

Colt, would you be selling it in a shop, or would you have to ship it? If the latter, I don't think it would be worth the hassle. If you have a shop, and the shade is in good condition and looks decent with it, I'd go for it! It's just quirky enough that someone is going to want it.

Of course, it would cost more than the lamp, but if this shade fit, oh my!...:

I've got a couple of open shelf units with peacock figurines. Guess who just ordered the peacock lampshade? Hope the size works. Will put a picture up once it arrives.

Sorry for the delay folks! The lamp shade did arrive and we have it perched on our floor lamp in the living room. It scared me a little when it came out of the box (more orange than I expected) but I think it fits in just fine.

It's definitely a statement piece. I'd put several of them in a very neutral living room and just let them do their thing.
