Converted gas lamp, had a few questions

This was an an estate, just out. I nearly passed on it because I'm trying to avoid heavy hard to ship items, but at $3, just couldn't leave it. When I plugged it in the lamp didn't turn on, but I figured it must have been the bulb, and in fact once home it did work with a new bulb.

I've figured out that this is a converted gas lamp, found a somewhat similar sold listing on Ebay. If this has any kind of value like that, even though its a pain to ship, guess I'm glad I took a chance.

It is heavy as can be, I think iron in the base. Had a few questions. The one in the link just shows one cylinder. Mine has two.... not sure what to call this part. Is there a name for the piece on the left?

Also this little cap came with it. Quite sure original and probably fit on the top of the cylinder to the right, but no way to attach. Would something inside (now missing?) have connected to it?

Only a few spots of green here, would this have had paint at one time?

Thanks for taking a look. Keywords, age, general thoughts appreciated.

Never painted. I would convert it back to kero, find a nice chimney/shade, and get her working again.

The piece on the left meaning the burner where the wick would go?

Your link is to something completely different. Yours is an oil lamp.
    I'm guessing it's a 1970s or so 'reproduction'.

A simple magnet will tell you if it is iron or not.

That would be a big yes.

The magnet literally flew out of my hand and attached itself.

    So definitely iron.

@terry5732 , why would you think 1970s/reproduction? Trying to learn, is there something that jumps out to tell you newer from older?

Common practice to weight the bases with cast iron. Think about having it filled with oil or kerosene along with having a glass shade. Need a counter balance.

Are the brass looking parts magnetic?

I think it's older and someone did a hack-job on wiring up that burner later in life. There's no way that was done by a legit shop/maker.

The center post is magnetic. The brass looking parts are not.

You could check to see if it was originally an actual oil lamp by seeing if liquid will go from the tank to the burner. You would have to plug the visible hole in the tank to check. I suspect it won't go through the center plumbing.
