Contemporary desktop sculpture thingy... What is it?

Discussion in 'Art' started by Sally Jennifer Wilkins, Mar 1, 2022.

  1. Can you help me with this desktop sculpture. Base is copper steel extending wire running through a curved copper sheet and finished with steel balls on ends.

Copper base has 16 on it, looks to have been forged and copper put in a mould. No signature. I tried google lens, Takis came up as nearest looking item. Really dont know how you would classify it and what kind of name to give it. Stumped please help.

Oh its 30cm high by 9cm wide.

    Thanks

In the 1960's, desk toys became popular. They still are a thing. Have you tried "Vintage Desk Toy" as a search?

Is it magnetic? Some were for paperclips.

Maybe to hold business cards? I see "10" on the base,is there other marks? Reminds me of Calder, but then again he was copied by many, many others.
