[IMG] I was hoping someone would be able to help me ID this commode, or at least give me a rough construction date. It was bought in Manchester, England in the 1970s and recently found its way to me.

There’s a plaque on the back that says ‘The Cripple’s Help Society Manchester’.

Although the charity was founded in 1897 it only existed under that name from 1939-1980, but this looks like it might be older than the 40s.

I spoke to the charity but unfortunately almost all their records went up in flames in 2009, and this didn’t have anything on record that even resembles this.

    any help greatly appreciated!

English furniture is not my forte' but, if it were American, would think more to turn of the century and no later then the 20s.
