Featured Comments on little painting

Hi all, any comments on this little simple (but very vibrant)village/town square painting. Was a 1969 Christmas present from Eileen (the artist I presume) Eileen Monas..? (or somebody..) Amateur artist yes? Looks like typical tourist art. Any
guesses as to the surname? Size 40x30cm. Thanks

 

I think it is charming. It reminds me of a holiday in Villefranche-sur-Mer, although this is not set in Villefranche. Maybe another town in the Med.

 

What a pretty little plaza. Wonder where that is. The Balearics, perhaps. I'd think an amateur artist but someone with training and knowledgable about art.

Agreed with Debora. The trees are pretty amateur but those buildings are really nice. It's a great painting.

 

Excelled in her linear perspective class but hadn't taken life drawing yet.

I have been there several times, but didn't even think of it. Maybe because Cadaqués is so pristine white.

Dalí lived there. The coastline at the bottom of his "Christ of Saint John of the Cross" is the Cadaqués coastline, so Christ is looking down on Cadaqués.
