Coloful Painted Pottery Vase

    Not sure if vase or jar. The mouth looks like there was a lid that can fit in there. Is this a commercial ware, studio, home project?

    It would take a Lid and maybe Painted in a Second Grade class.

    It looks as if it were marbleized - where the oily "paints" are floated on water then swirled about a bit ... item is then dipped into the water and the swirled colors attach themselves to it. I've played with the technique on paper ... don't see why it wouldn't work on unglazed pottery too.

    Looks like Nemadji to me.

    Looks marbleized, except that one heck of a seam runs along one side. Marbleized like Nemadji wouldn't have a seam like that, IMO. Some of the colors are truncated along it. To me that suggests some kind of transfer. Is the inside bisque, varnished, or glazed?
