    Evening all,

I have acquired a collection of paintings/drawings. I have better pictures of each front/back. Is it better to post a new thread for each, or should I add them to this thread?

    Thank you.

I would split them up - keeping the 2 "paired" sets together. Can't see details of the 2 small ones upper right to determine whether they related well to any of the others.

Thank you, I'll do that, the two upper right are not related.

Louise, those all appear to be prints, not paintings or drawings.

are they prints or water colors.
If you don't know, get a magnifying glass. A print will have dots, a watercolor you will see the brush strokes.

Ah, you are so right, Debra! It did not occur to me to click on the image to expand it (because it hasn't been working all that well lately!)

How can you tell they are all prints?

How can you see dots from that first image? I see no dots but do see brush strokes/pencil marks from different pressure etc. I will upload images, some with magnifying glass in the individual threads. Very grateful for any and all advice. Thank you!

    I can't.
I'm saying you should get a magnifying glass and look.
You asked how to tell the difference. I was answering your question.

Ah yeah I understood that, sorry that question was for Debora, being able to identify that they are all prints from that group image was impressive and I wanted to learn how to know the difference so easily. Thanks

Thank you! This one did look like a print to me, in comparison to the others, very flat. Thanks again.

That ornate frame is also typical of better quality wall decor.

No mystery, Louise. Glass. Captioned mats. 1950s pickled frames with sailing ships. Souvenir watercolor of Balmoral. Modern ornate frame. All point to prints, not original works. The two in the upper right hand corner are the most interesting.

I see! Good points to note for future. I have uploaded more photos of all in separate threads, would love for you to take a look, if you get chance. Thank you.
