    Hi all,
I am delighted to have found your forum.
I live on Bali in a little village near Mas, where many Pita Maha artist lived, these talented artist come from a family line of artist, with many still following their parents lineage.
I have been collecting art for well over 20 years and have acquired a large collection. My interest in collecting Pita Maha Art Deco pieces was recently ignited after visiting a Museum, I was fortunate to have met the great grand son of Ida Bagus Putu Taman who was a member of the Pita Maha group along with European artist Walter Spies and Rudolf Bonnet.

Hello and selamat datang to the forum, rene.
You must have a wonderful collection, and we would love it if you could share some photos with us.
I have a small collection of Bali Art Deco as well, but not much Pita Maha. I like later Art Deco as well, and love the dreamy faces of the 1950s carvings.
You were so lucky to meet the great grandson of Ida Bagus Putu Taman, the chairman.

I often say that Bali needs another quality control organisation like Pita Maha. The committee, which included Walter Spies and Rudolf Bonnet, used to judge pieces every week. Something like that would be a good idea now as well. There is still some beautiful art being made, but unfortunately there are so many bad carvings flooding the market.

Welcome! I don't collect Bali carvings, unless they're in the form of silver beads, but would definitely like to see pictures of the collection. It never hurts to learn something.

Thank you all for the kind welcome.

I am so excited to be a part of this group and meet fellow patriots of the arts.

It is a great pleasure to see and discuss art.

I live on Bali in a little village near Mas and Batuan where many Pita Maha artists lived, as you know, these talented artists come from a family line of artists, with many still following their parents lineage, they actually live in Balinese family compounds that have nor changed much over the last several generations so one can experience an authentic nostalgic when visiting these artist families.

I am on an adventure to discover learn and collect pieces from the Pita Maha era 1930 to the 1970.

I have been collecting art for well over 25 years and have acquired a large collection of both ethnographic tribal material and post work war 2.

My interest in collecting Pita Maha Art Deco pieces was ignited after visiting several Museums.

I believe the seed was actually sown when I saw a picture of JFK and Sukarno.

On a recent visit to Java, we visited the air force Museum in Jogya, it is filled with aircraft from the 1930s to the one that I found to be most interesting,,,,yes its was a gift from JFK to Sukarno, so that Sukarno could attend Diplomatic meeting in Asia.

I look forward to discussing and sharing my experience along with yours.

    Sincerely

    Rene

    Hi Any Jewelry,

I would love to see your collection.
You are a well knowledged collector.
I live in the heart of the Pita Maha movement. with Batuan and Mas to the south and Ubud to the north.

On a recent visit to Rudolf Bonnets house in Campuhan and Le Mayeurs house in Sanur, I came to realize that these places are lost in time, like a time capsule, an oasis of nostalgic preservation, one can feel the presence of the the artist in both homes, perhaps due to a lack of funding, little has been changed or renovated.

I can ascertain this as I last visited these places over 20 years ago when I met the artist Antonio Blanco at his house, He was an eccentric old man at the time ,he attempted to sell me a painting of Michael Jackson,= which I now regret not buying, this is another story.
When comparing pictures from the 1930s one can see that these homes have little changed and have many authentic relics from the past.
