I bought a gorgeous Austro-Hungarian guard chain, just for my loupe.:hilarious:
Of course now I have to go to venues where I actually need a loupe, which requires much more energy than I have at the moment.:( But when the time comes, I'll be prepared!:playful:

I have a magnifying glass on a chain that I wear on my neck. I need a stronger one. My eyes are getting worse.

    Hi,
I have a 30X magnifier on my key chain. I carry another set of stuff when I go hunting. It is a magnet, a violet lighter and a small measuring devise. I use a dollar bill for most china just to tell between 5",6" and 7" pieces.

Just a word of caution, if you carry a magnet do not get it anywhere near your wallet - been there, done that. It wiped out the info on a gift card I had

Those are nice, Johnny - Southern coin usually has a fairly high value, so likely a good buy. I have a book on South Carolina silver, but not sure if it's here or packed away - will look around for it later to see if Lee is mentioned, with perhaps a bit more information...

I know several collectors & dealers who might be interested in them. Camden played a huge part in the Revolutionary War & is a big horse community. Local SC coin silver pieces usually do quite well at the auction on Friday. If you would like me to sell them for you at any point send me a PM.:happy:

Checked 'Palmetto Silver: Riches of the South' (2003) and they show two teaspoons and two tablespoons by Joseph Lee as part of the associated McKissick Museum exhibit (oddly, they appear to have coffin-ends, which were unlikely to have been produced as early as their suggested 1780 dating) - the same locations and working dates for Lee noted. Also checked the Houston Museum of Fine Arts' 'Southern Silver' (1968), found no mention of Lee, but then, looking for more information, checked Belden's 'Marks of American Silversmiths in the Ineson-Bissell Collection' (1980), and found the same mark, as found on spoons of similar form to those in the first book, tentatively identified, with citation, as a Connecticut maker - perhaps further research between publication of Belden and the McKissick book identified him as a South Carolina maker...

A wealth of info ! I dont know why,but it didnt tell me there were more responses so forgive me for not thanking you all sooner. They have very faint initials on the handles, but so faint I cant seem to photograph them. I paid $6 each for them,so it takes the sting out of the other buy ! I love the idea they are southern and pre revolutionary (maybe) !
