Coiled Basket help ID ??

I am trying to identify this coiled basket. Found in the southwest U.S. Colors used are dark purple and green. The rim treatment is unusual. Any ideas ?? TY, ChipperDoug

The rim, with the separated loops and the checkered "beading" is distinctive, but I don't recognize it off hand. Some Swazi baskets have those loops on the rim, but they are made of sisal (at least the modern ones are):


The photos of chipperdoug's are too blurry to really see what the materials might be, and the color seems to be a bit off.

I should point out another difference between your basket and the Swazi example I posted. Looking at the interior surfaces - the side that the weavers were looking at when working - the spiral of the Swazi basket runs counter clockwise, while yours runs clockwise. The direction of the coiling is often determined by the local weaving tradition - the techniques passed down from one weaver to the next.

Can you please post some better closeups of the stitching on the rim and other areas, so we might be able to identify the materials used?

 

I'm not very good with photos etc., maybe this will show you a little more about the construction. TYVM, I appreciate the help.

 

Thank you for the latest photo. I would like one more point of clarification (sorry to be so picky). Your first photo seems to show a sort of checkered effect on the outer edge of the rim, but I don't see evidence of this in your latest photo. Was this just a trick of the lighting, or because the last stitches are spaced so that they expose the lighter color of the coil foundation?

 

Here is a close-up of the edge, looking down from above. It's two diff. colored strips
woven together in a checkerboard pattern. I appreciate the continued help.
