    Hello.
As well as my 'core' collecting interest in Chinese ceramic items, I also like to collect any interesting bits and bobs as and when I come across them.

I've just come across this (apparently) antique cobalt blue apothecary jar which I am considering buying and would appreciate any help with a couple of questions. The jar measures c. 20 cm high and c. 7.5cm in diameter. Unfortunately, the stopper is lost.
It's not mega bucks, but as the gilding seems to be in suspiciously good condition, I'll be requesting a photo of the underside in order to further reduce the possibility of buying a modern copy.

    i) What would the approximate age (and possible origin) of the bottle be ?

ii) How significant does the absence of the original stopper affect the desirability (and value) of such bottles ?

    Many thanks !
