    Hello! I found this gorgeous red velvet dress and jacket set for 10 euros but am having trouble dating it. The hemline is throwing me off. It feels like it should be longer to match the style and age of the rest of the dress. I am just a beginner but am interested in period identification and restoration so please give me any tips or advice you have. :) Thank you!

    1940s. Dress with dirndel-inspired detail. Jacket with wide shoulders, pinched waist, peplum. Appears to be homemade from remnants. Length should be shorter rather than longer unless let out later in decade after New Look introduced.
