What do you call this? A tobacco Jar? Tea caddy? Measures 3 1/4 inches tall and 3 3/8 inches wide. Any idea on age? Weighs almost a pound. Very thick metal. Thanks in advance!

I would vote for late 1800's to early 1900's.

The five claws don't have the symbolic meaning as in the earlier Chinese art. Only Imperial pieces were allowed to be decorated with five claws dragons but not sure when that rule was in effect. For sure you can see non-Imperial pieces with such dragons in the Late Qing and post art.

The caddy is very neat and in good condition for its age. I like it.

Awhile ago I did a blog post on the dragon in Chinese cloisonne. Your canister definitely seems similar to the Lao Tian Li style of dragon.
