I've had this clock forever. I always thought it came from aboard a ship but it may have been an industrial clock. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

Its possible it was on a ship, but wasn't meant for a ship specifically. If you removed the face you'd probably find another company made the clock mechanism itself.

Since it has Nordberg on the dial, maybe it would be in service at their industrial plant? Perhaps it was a gift of appreciation from Jas Marsh, a possible vendor, who manufactured gauges.

It does appear to be a typical bulkhead clock form, but the two winding holes need explanation.
It could be both holes wind a pair of going springs for longer duration, it could be there is a normal hour strike and it could be that it has a ship's bell strike (1 to 8 bells in a four hour watch period.
Ships bell strike would be commercially more attractive.
If you open the front and look at the edge of the dial you will see 3 or 4 screw heads. Remove these and the entire dial and movement will lift out.
If you do this and photograph it, please do it somewhere better lit as the pictures posted are very poor.

I doubt the presentation idea, it is a very ordinary object of the time. Maybe Nordstrom made it and the other company retailed it.

Jas. P. Marsh of Chicago made gauges, etc. sooo I suspect they made clocks.

"Marsh" gauges and thermometers ; valves ; steam traps ; "Paul" valves ; radiator valves ; "Marsh" heating products ; "Marsh" refrigeration instruments ; Marsh Tritrol Co.: "Tri-Trol" regulators ; thermostats ; World War II wartime publication ; fuel conservation ; "Tri-Trol Manual of Temperature Regulation" .

Seems Nordberg made pumps, steam & diesel engines, etc... Jas. P. Marsh may have made this clock for one of Nordberg's contraptions??? Seems to be no mention of nautical in relation to either though steam & diesel engines, pumps, etc... are/were on ships??

Another possibility in that someone in the machine shop in one of the two companies made the clock "after hours."

It apppears from the similar clock that the movement is a double spring type, so discard my ideas about ships bell strike. It is simply a matter of extra duration.

The clock is of a standard type, I do not think there is any chance it was a project. It does seem entirely feasible that anyone who wanted a clock bought one from Seth Thomas, it would surely be far more economical than tooling up to make your own.
