Clock Movement Part Names?

I get easily confused when I hear or read clock movement descriptions and have trouble naming the different parts, not good when I enjoy buying and selling clocks :(

I learned a long while back that a good way to get answers is to ask questions, even if they appear to have an answer obvious to everyone else.

So I'll start with a mantel clock recently acquired that that I am looking to date. Photo of back plate shows that it has a moving (balance?) wheel that is mounted vertically but is similar to that found mounted horizontally (at the top of the clock movement and usually below a bevelled glass viewing section under the handle) in carriage clocks c1900. Is the rectangular plate and balance (?) wheel assembly a vertically mounted escapement, i.e. the part of the clock that regulates the beat and controls the speed?

If anyone wants to post examples of other movement parts, their names and approx dates please do so!

That is called a platform escapement and looks to be a cylinder type and original to a C. 1900 time piece movement.
