This painting is 27 x 40 inches and looks to me like oil on canvass. I am not knowledgeable about art and would appreciate any comments on the painting. Does it have any value beyond decorative value, and what do you think the signature is? I did a google image search on the signature which did not yield anything. Looks like Longacre or something like that to me, and that long tail on the signature seems odd.
    Thanks for any help.

Thank you Antiquefab! I searched ebay for tall ships painting and looked through all of those looking for a long last name beginning with L, but did not use the word clipper in my search, and nothing came up.

Supposedly (taken from Google) for some reason he used to go into some kind of seizure after signing his work ?

    Looks pretty naff/decorational from here

Thing is, there probably have been some people paying $200 dollars odd for them

That signature is distracting. Your eyes go to that and then follow the long line out of the picture. Poor placement.
