    Looking to confirm this is indeed civil war era and who exactly would have worn it. Engineer? 1st Lieutenant?

    I've no clue.
    I've just visited the Medal of Honor museum in Chattanooga.
    When you find out about it and it is confirmed Civil War vintage perhaps you could donate it to them if they were interested.
    You could also loan it.

    Thank you. From what i've seen so far, the way it's put together looks good for civil war era. Wish I had a pair.
