Civil War discharge papers from Black unit

    I have a friend with some old documents from a black civil war soldier. Items include discharge papers and pension papers and later photo's (non in uniform) I cannot find anything like this for sale. What do I need to look for to decide the value of these items?

    At least on eBay, the term "Black Americana" is used frequently for older African American items.

    If you aren't in a big hurry to cash them in, send copies to one of the bigger ephemera auctioneers and see if they'll give you an auction estimate.
