    Sure looks like it. Cinnabar over brass? The base is classic Chinese blue enamel.

    Not sure, but I am actually leaning towards red resin. Hard to tell without actually handeling it. However, if it is cinnabar it is of a lower quality and most certainly 20th century.

    Looks right to me as no resin casting bubbles and there are definite visible layers

    No bubbles and layers is what also make me think it is not synthetic.
    I agree on the 20th C. but what exactly is of lower quality?
