I got this cup last week at a Church rummage sale. No markings or names, who knows who this is or what company made this ?

Do you think it's an amateur craft project? You'd think if it was professional, it would be glazed everywhere and not just on the hair and mustache.

I don't think it's an amateur's work, but rather studio pottery of some sort.

This one (sadly, it's also unidentified) seems to have some similarities:

For me 'craft' has the connotation of hobbyist. Think this is a professional artisan potter, the sort of thing you see at crafts shows.

 

Well, I think I will keep it till it's identified, I don't want to keep making the same mistake I did last week.

That unglazed terracotta is typically Japanese.It's nice stuff though.
