Any opinions on whether this unsigned bronze is French, from '30s or a hint of an artist who might have created such a piece? I'm trying to locate comps... Thanks IA. . . :)

Sorry, Scouts, I have no idea of the background of this lovely piece (and I am not comparing it in any way to what I remember from my own childhood!)

I just wanted to say that the fisherman himself reminds me of some of the "nautical" stuff my mom used to decorate our New England beach house in the 1960's. As kids, we called them "the Gorton's of Gloucester Guys".

Here are a couple of eBay items that might be somewhat similar to yours (?) - tho they are not lamps:

A quarter ton anchor is an odd thing to carry around with you.

It was necessary in high-surf conditions. The wheeled cart used to transport the anchor was not shown due to space limitations of the small lamp.

And I have a bridge you should buy too,,!

    Hi KOT,
All the shore museums have copies of stuff like this. The shore was the beginning of the life saving stations. Providence has plenty of stuff like this in all the shops all over town.

Yes and may have been locations of the beginnings of the 'breakers' too. :(
Partially why the service came into being methinks.

My destroyer was ported in Newport for awhile in '76 but making a whole $140 or so every 2 weeks didn't get me looking around too much. :p
