    hi folks

picked up this sweet little demitasse cup and saucer in a c/s yesterday for £2

hand painted and made by crown staffordshire

its also got a stamp on both for T goode & Co (never heard of)

looking that up they must have been a shop in mayfair in london

anyone know if they were like an aspreys or liberty or such

wondering if that makes them a bit more desirable

    any thoughts or info appreciated

T Goode is a top end retailer in London and is still operating. It was opened in around 1826 and numbered European royalty in their clientele. They only sell top end stuff although your cup and saucer are probably one of the cheaper things they would have sold. Sadly the retailer name doesn’t seem to add much to the value.

Yup, and I’ve bought stuff from Thomas Goode. Lovely shop.

I've found some crown Staffordshire items to fetch decent prices. I had some demitasse with blue ribbons and pink roses on that fetched £30 each. So possible value in this I'd say.

Possibly but there seem to be a lot of people making the same mistake, if that's the case. Try a Google image search of 'crown staffordshire rock bird". Seems to be a legit pattern. Maybe crown staffordshire have made the error...

I will do as you suggest. Thank you for the (tactful) direction.

In the hierarchy of British pottery firms, Crown Staffordshire ranks somewhere in the middle. I like some of their stuff -- I collected a few small figurines of Shakespearean characters. Always loved that turquoise colour. It would be a combination of transfer print and hand-painted enamels.
