Trying to figure if this is something old and interesting or cheap Chinese import. There are some scratches, scuffs, marks chips etc but of course that does not mean the piece is old.
The clay appears to be white/graiysh. The only mark found is impressed "China" on the bottom. There is a black slip on the inside and visible hand prints,.
    Any thoughts?
    Thanks

A brush washer or a plant pot? I could see it holding a bonzai tree.

Could be pot. I am not seeing clearly "China" but for sure not seeing "Nippon". The "China" mark was sometimes misspelled or had some or all of the letters reversed.

That mark keeps bugging me. I flipped it upside down and still can't make what it says.

It's two lines, top left photo is the most obvious, split it in half horizontally.

Good eyes. Quite possible there are two lines. I would never figure that.

    I do now :)
So, made in nippon mark makes it produced between 1914-21.
Not sure if Tokonabe ware. They are usually textured. Not typical decoration either. Plus the brown finish. And those hornless dragons and key frets remind me of Chinese bronzes.
