    卷石不盈尺，孤竹不成林。惟有岁寒节，乃知君子心。
    It's a poem, no english translation available, but I don't see any direct relation to the object, just decorative

    Thank you, I did find a translation sort of

    The rolling stone is not full of feet, and the lone bamboo does not become a forest. Only the cold festival of the year is to know the heart of a gentleman.
