I don't have high hopes for this handpainted tile, trying to decide whether to put it in a donate pile. Tile about 8"x5". Apparently 20th century, but better than some on ebay. Any opinions? Worth trying to translate @Couch Potato Wannabe ?

The more intense the calligraphic style the harder it is for me to read it, can you get an even closer up photo still in focus?

To me this looks like a copy of a republican period plaque, not too old but a good decorative piece. In my opinion a reasonable attempt but not high quality enough to be the original.

After a quick look around I can see these are commonly listed as 20th century, 1940s, Chinese Republic Period Porcelain and seem to be on offer for around $400-$500 USD.

The republican period ones are quite valuable so of course there are many many repros out there.

I find the texture of the edge curious.

Thank you so much for your interest. Here's the best I could do without breaking it up into parts. If you think that would help, let me know and I'll take some more pics.

The edges were all apparently trimmed down from a larger piece of tile. Done with hand nippers and not a power saw. I believe the painting was done after the trimming, not before, based on some (but not all) of the lines stopping before reaching the edges. It definitely looks 20th century and not earlier, but when in the 20th is harder to say. I was surprised that the wooden latches on the back slide to release the tile from the frame without removing any nails; that makes it easy to take it in and out without damage.

Reading Right to Left as Chinese does.

貂蝉拜月 = Diao Chan worships the moon.
Can also be seen written at times as 貂蟬閉月 = Diao Chan eclipses the moon, though not in this case with your piece.

Sadly the rest is too difficult for me to make out well enough.

Diao Chan is one of the four great beauties in ancient China, renowned for their beauty.

Awesome! I took close ups of the remaining bit you couldn't see, in case that helps.
