Chinese Serpentine Fish

Plus the cheap stone and crude carvings point to a recent decorative piece.
    But I wonder if the whole thing was made for sale just the way it is or the plaques were originally meant to be arranged together using something else. Thery are drilled so maybe they were hold together with strings or so?
    By the way, looks like it’s a variant of Bagua/Trigrams.
