Is it indeed Chinese and late Qing? Imari? Usually, I've seen peacocks on Japanese pieces.

It seems to have better details, whiter porcelain, a longer ring when lightly flicked, and more "movement" in the design than most export pieces I've come across. The pics are not doing it justice.

About 8" across top and 3.5" tall. Weighs between 1.5 and 1.75 lbs.

Can you be more specific? The lack of a period mark? Lack of chaffing?

Everything. I'd think it's 1970s or later, with odds on later.

Basic design looks transfer printed, and then some hand embellished details were added.

My pennies worth --- recent and probably Japanese. Seen a few good quality Japanese peacock decorated porcelains but wouldn't put it past the Chinese to copy it.
    Have a great Xmas.
    Cheers

I'm with Stephen, fairly recent and Japanese. Really nice, good quality.
As Aaron said, looks like a transfer print with hand painted details.
