Have not tested the piece for gold content yet.
Usually Chinese pure gold is marked 999 or 990 but here I see only 99.
Maybe if someone can help with the characters on the markings?
    Thanks

Went to a pawn shop today. Told them I want to sell it. They asked how many K, I said 24. I was expecting to test it with acid or so. I could not see what they did, it looked to me like the person hit it with something and then said it was real. Offered $500 for the 25 grams total and I said " C Ya".
Any idea how they figured it was solid gold?

I doubt they recognized the Chinese marks. Maybe there knew the meaning of "99". Don't know if they used similar tester but it took them only a second.

If that tester really works it seems like a good way to spend $500 or so.

I was thinking about that but don't know how accurate these devices are. Gem tester is another thing I am considering.
