Featured Chinese Glazed Dragon

My relationship with Asian pieces is I cannot resist the ones I like.

And the ones I like seem to range from three-figure valuable to "Not Even Asian, What Made You Think It Was Asian?"

So that's where we are.

This guy with a broken tooth (yes I knew it was broken when I plonked down my $8) caught my eye and that was that. He's glazed, heavy, clay, and has a sloppily impressed mark that I can't make heads or tail out of.

And I'm 99.999% sure he is not an antique.

Your thoughts?

Actually, I think he's kinda cute...a bit harrassed looking.

 

I would have paid $8 for him - maybe even $10! Very nice. Someone cared enough to glue the little felt pads on him (or maybe they cared enough about their table).

 

Jivvy, he reminds me of my Joseph (my avatar.) He, too, is missing a fang - and he "came that way", as well!

 

Are you suggesting this purchase was a dog? *waggly eyebrows*

 

I'm guessing it was the table.

 

I feel like this purchase was more entertaining than I intended it to be.

I don't mind that.

 

SBSVC, your cat may be merely yawning, but he is far scarier than that Foo-Dragon! If I were a mouse, I'd find another house!

 

I love it. I think it may have had a twin. These are often sold in pairs, to protect the home.

 

Well, my office does need protection from a devilish cat, perhaps he can manage that on his own.

 

I'm sure he can, in his own little way. He looks fierce enough.

I did not encourage this, I did not bathe him in tuna.

It's just who she is.

 

Oh, and would someone please tell me when he was likely made? I'm thinking 1970s, but I don't really have a clue.
