Can't help at all, but they are very interesting and seem to have some age. Are the faces and hands porcelain, or plaster over wood? That bit of damage at the tip of the nose on one might let you tell, or possibly how the hands and head terminate under the robes.

Only my impression, and I might not be correct.

I think these might be from the 20's/30s.

We were importing from China at that time. There is also the possibility they are a Japanese copy of Chinese dolls.

Have you looked at the back of the neck, or the middle of the back to see if either doll is marked?

I think the head, hands, and feet are made from paper mache and the body, legs and arms are made from cloth and stuffed firmly with straw, There is no markings anywhere on either of the dolls, they were definitely purchased in Hong Kong from an old curiosity shop while my grandparents were staying out there in the late 1950s early 1960s
