Chinese Cloisonné Box??

    I am assuming this is cloisonné? Any idea how old? Marked "CHINA" on the bottom. Thanks!

    Might try Champleve and Cloisonne enamel. Fun box!

    Yes to cloisonné, but no to champlevé. Although I can see why you'd say that, it does have raised areas, only the other way around from champlevé.

    Wow how could you see the raised enamel? I enlarged it on my end and it still looked like champleve! I need better glasses.

    It helps that I know the style.;)

    It is probably easier to see on this detail pic of a gilt cloisonné egg, the gold ground is lower, the cloisonné enamel is raised:
