Chinese Bronze Caddy

    It looks cute, but somehow I don't think it's very old.

    It's ok not to be Very old. The question is is it old at all? Maybe someone can comment on the welding and filing marks.
    Any idea what it's meant to be used for? Tea caddy?

    If the lid is pierced and open at the top, then I don't think so. Maybe it's a censer? Chinese bronze censers (for incense sticks) are very common.

    is the size closer to that of a pack of cigarettes or a fire hydrant? I'm guessing the odd characters are made-up gibberish.

    IMG_9525.JPG IMG_9524.JPG The lid is pierced. The piece is about 7" to the top and of the finial. I don't know if characters are made up or actual old script.
    I am not very familiar with the bronze casting process, what are those metal wires on the inside?
