chinese bat and dragon bowl, McKinley era, is this a Guangxu mark?

The "China" mark can be found on modern pieces so that's not definitive as to the date. But this one seems to have a variant of the Guangxu mark (1875-1908). Seems similar to one shown on Goteborg see next post.

A couple entries down? #194 (or 209) seems closer to me than the one you show above.

Both wrong page and wrong mark. The link to Jiaqing is not the right place to be. You want to be in the Guangxu section.

I dont understand. The entry marked 408 in that section is under a sub heading called: "Guangxu Nian Zao 1875-1908." That would be the right time period for McKinley era yes?

do you have an objective reason or just a feeling? I appreciate anything further you can add Komokwa.

I mean it kindof looks new so I think I see what you are saying...

more of a gut feeling from the china mark and the way it's loosely painted....

it has a Kitsch quality about it and it looks rushed.....
    imo

also what is going on with the dark spots around the "China" mark? I don't know how these things are applied but is that from a stencil or from heating up the piece?
