I passed this up due to significant damage. I was thinking it might be a English transferware piece with a Chinese design. Any thoughts on origin and are are greatly appreciated.

Chinese, in my book. Mid to late 19th. Not much value even if perfect but I really like these.

    You might consider Japan too.

Cannot be Chinese from 19th century and decorated with transfer. It is Japanese.
    In my view, 20th century.

Hi, yes, this is Japanese, the technique is called Katagami-suri Inbande, printed by stencil-paper. It was used already in the 19th century, and your plate could be around the late 19th, early 20th century, in my opinion.
