    hi folks

found this in my friends house clearance shop today(£10)
    all handmade. carved and painted
painting is actually painted on the frame itself
    frame is large 14"
small bit of damage to painting (can probably touch up)
    presuming swiss
if this is what tourist art used to look like, i think its certainly lost the standard

    any info or thoughts appreciated

A fun piece, but also some nice work, both the painting and the Brienzer carving. Brienz is very close to Interlaken.
I see 1stdibs is having trouble with their geography, Brienz was still in Switzerland last time I checked. The Black Forest is of course in Germany. Both these frames are classic Brienzer woodcarving, so Swiss.
For me it is the other way around, but that has to do with the souvenirs of my childhood.;) But to be fair, both are lovely.

Clint Eastwood (tick) atmospheric cold snowy climate (tick)

    Haven't seen it though

Escape from Alcatraz has got to be his greatest though

Clint Eastwood (tick) atmospheric, claustrophobic prison brilliance

Birdman of Alcatraz, shawshank, green mile, in the name of the father, papillon, midnight express, cool hand luke

Prison films just do it for me (not that I'd like to experience doing a bit of bird though)

had a go at touching up the missing paint work.
far harder than i imagined. wasnt just a case of adding a light blue
more of a mix of blue black white and yellow
    still wasnt happy with it
    sw30.jpg

so decided to do something different.
i know its not geographically accurate now but just went for it anyway
