Well there's an argument for not getting too artsy in your logo

Why did you say "charcoal" in your title? Did these get plucked from a fire scene? Or are they just that badly tarnished/gunked up?

There isn't a shiny bit to be seen. Will be fun to see what I can polish out of them. The black is thick enough to scrape some off without seeing silver.

    Hi Terry,
That is a reason (the only reason) to use Tarnex, in help cleaning just to be SURE to use a good silver polish on them after cleaning. It will get rid of the whitish coloration and protect them. I have salvalged a few pieces of fire blackened and deep black crustyness by using the Feared Tarnex. It is the ONLY reason I have used it.

TarnX is weak. I went straight for the 34% hydrochloric. At 10 degrees it was weak too.

Did you end up using that 4000 grit sandpaper to get all the final bits and pieces of stubborn tarnish off? Ha ha ha.

When I used to make silver jewelry, I used it to add texture on certain pieces.

Some simichrome (and elbow grease) will bring a bit of shine back, if you'd like them shinier.
