I was told this was purchased in England about 15 years ago, but wondering if it was old then or new? Is it vintage or antique?, and is it bronze?
Also, what is the proper term for the side lever? I'm seeing it called different things.
I do not think the patina has been applied, but of course I could be wrong.
    Thanks for your time.

Likely brass rather than bronze with applied patina and I think pretty new. Maybe from India.

    looks like pewter to me.
Style is 18th V. They rarely retain the snuffer.

Are those called Hog Scraper candlesticks?

I'm thinking newer too, because of the scratches all going in the same direction.

Thank you all so very much Brad, Af & Cluttered!!:):)
I didn't realize that it would come apart, so I took some new pics, and made a small scratch on part of the screw. It has a coppery color underneath, although like Brad said, it could be brass, IDK.
It does seem to me, that if it where old, it would have more wear to it. It seems to be in pretty good condition with not a lot of wear shown.

What you're calling a 'side lever' is more likely called either a slide or pusher.....to raise the candle as it burns down.......if the candle were in deep enough.....I don't really see real age to it either.....no, not called a 'hog scraper' either.......these are below, and worth more if signed on the thumb pusher! Sorry, didn't clean the wax off before posting :banghead::banghead:

I may be wrong, but I don't think old ones unscrewed.

    Hi Cluttered,
Actually I have 2 or 3 pairs of some neat little brass round "Brighton bun" portable candlesticks from the late 1700's to 1800's!!! From reading I gathered military captains or commanders were the ones that used them mostly.....just fun to have... will look for them.....they are about 3" across and screw together....mine are well worn and very plain.....I just found them......the $295. article you see sticking out of one is from 2006!! They've increased in value a bit!!
