This chair must be rare because I have not been able to find anything remotely similar after a month of searching and asking so-called experts. The arm rest spindle down the side seems relevant, as does the back support engraving. No marking seen. The seat cushion is made of straw and jute webbing.

If anyone has information that could help me identify its origin, I would greatly appreciate it.

It is a bit unusual, I'll give it that, but I wouldn't call it rare in the sense the word is usually given. How to call this Regency revival style depends on where you are. The stuffing is the usual, for a chair that's a century old--very unsympathetic reupholstering, though, but that, it seems, is in the process of being corrected :) It will be interesting to see what's under the back rail (this style is in my opinion the most comfortable), as those usually just get the new fabric over the old.
