Doesn't at all mean it's from one of those years either......

Well it is roman numerals & I read about that they used to do this before 1830s but could also be faked as well so yes there is no telling

Looks like a routine 1930s 'antiqueish' look dining chair to me.

Possibly a factory batch number, what it certainly is not is a date.

Good pictures, wish everyone did as well,

I don't think the rush seat is original to the chair.

Are those saw marks on the last picture?

It is a drop in seat, and probably an option for the buyer, this is factory stuff with no fixed rules, would Madam like the seat like this, this or this would be a selling point.

I think this is a fairly good quality newer chair with faux distressing. The seat may be original and, as suggested, one of several options.

I'm with Brad. It looks good at first, but a little closer and you see modern machine made. It's made well but not particularly old.

What parts look machined except the 2 screws in second to last picture? Just trying to learn what to look for!

I dunno much about furniture but it looks like a lot of this piece may be made of a light-colored wood stained dark to resemble say mahogany.

Brad knows the proper terminology. I know what I see but not what to call it.
