I have a typical Thonet style chair, the kind of bent wood chair that were made a lot in the early 1900's. It has a label that says: "FISCHEL Niemes in Böhmen | a Niemes en Bohême (Autriche)", which translates to "FISCHEL (the manufacturer) Niemes in Bohemia / at Niemes in Bohemia / (Austria).

I heard it's possible to narrow down the year(s) of manufacture based on the labels, the names of the countries and such.

Maybe you'd like to show it to us? Sometimes typeface or arrangement of words are also clues to time period.

Despite seller's claim on date range, these have to be 1918 or later as the Czechoslovakia State did not exist until then.

Despite the insistence of your label that Niemes, Bohemia, is in Austria, it ended up as part of Czechoslovakia. Before they gained independence, there was a cultural struggle over whether Bohemia was going to be predominantly German or have a Slovak character. Think we know Fischel's position on the matter. Niemes is now Mimon.

Are there specific years known for this period?

That's right. Things are complicated for the Bohemians, first independent, then Austro-Hungarian empire, then Czechoslovakia, and now, together with Moravia, the Czech Republic. I'm sure many Bohemian children lose track in history class.

WWI kept everybody busy there for a while. I can imagine Germanic pride swelling in the years before 1914.

Not that many Germanic peoples in the area. Bohemia is mostly Slavic, Austria is a mishmash on Celtic origins. Many present day Austrians stress their Celtic heritage.
