The figures are clearly Japanese but the mark says Qianlong lol

Your wife's colorful box is in the style of Imari ware which originated in Japan but was also produced in China. The figures are dressed in Japanese costume. As noted above, the mark is a reign mark from China. I would think your wife's box is a modern decorative import from China. Let's see what others have to say/add.

If you're looking at gotheborg, you have the mark pictured upside down in your photo. My first impression is 25 years old or less, Chinese.
