I've had this kitty doorstop in my collection for about a decade. Does anyone recognize it? Is it antique?

Maybe it’s one of a pair of bookends?

It is very cute, but isn't it a bit too fragile for a doorstop?

(says the woman who has been known to use an antique Middle Eastern stirrup for a doorstop :shame:)

It's pretty solid, which is why I thought it was antique. I don't have it nearby to weigh, but, as I recall, it feels more like heavier cement than a plaster of Paris piece. Probably a good 3-5 lbs.

Try scratching the bottom, plaster will powder away, ceramic will not come off at all :)

Are you talking with a fingernail or a hard object like a nail?

A little scratch with a nail.

Tried scratching it as suggested, and nothing flaked off. It appears to be made of cement. And I weighed it. Not as heavy as I thought but still has some weight: 2.17 lbs.
