What do you think of this.
I was told its from around 1910, but I'm not sure.

Cast iron well weathered, 20 inches tall (51cm)
Marked on back and base "Made in England"

It was being used as a gate stop.

Its a lot larger and heavier than the normal run of the mill more modern door / gate stops.

    Sweet, Davey!

Are those letters inside the circled area, or am I hallucinating again? Looks like a couple of Es, and M...

Of course, the Dutch are the tallest nation on earth!:playful: Giants compared to the Brits, who didn't even make the top 10! (And I thank them for it, I order my shoes in Britain, Dutch shoes are too big.:))

He is very cute, and the costume is good. The hat is a bit strange though.

Well I was taller than the Dutch couple across the road, but they are both dead now.:eek:
The hat is one of those peaked fishermans caps but it does not show very well.

So I guess you're significantly taller than them now;)

That front flap thing doesn't match the highish hat. One of these would go with the costume he is wearing:

I'll get a better pic tomorrow.
Ugh, Volendam don't remind me, I nearly froze to death there, geeze it was so cold you darn't breath in:D:D

From what I can gather these companion sets are from the 30's and were initially enamelled.
I think mine might have had the enamel burnt off and it was repainted many years ago.

The colours on yours are much closer to the colours of the actual costume, I prefer it to that odd celadon green.
The only thing both got wrong is that the waistband is part of the trousers, not of the shirt and not a separate belt. The buttons are silver.

Boy's trousers from Volendam (apologies :D) on the left:

This cap can also go with the outfit:

It must have been your eyes, checked today and its just the shape of the corrosion.

Here is a side view of the cap.

Davey was referring to my comment about the phantom letters I saw on the bottom of the piece.
