This cast bronze item turned up recently but we can't figure out what it is. On one side it is stamped "PEH,CO PAT APLD FOR. Many searches have been done and nothing like it has been found.
    Thanks ahead for any ideas!

I'd think for something more substantial......like a soldering iron....

Seconded, depending on the size. What are the measurements? Normally you wouldn't use bronze unless whatever sat on it was hot.

In the absence of other info I am inclined to agree with you all - it is a holder of some kind. Measurements - it is 7 inches long and 4 inches wide. Oddly, it is bent in a curve that keeps the wide feet closest to the "hook" end off the table. Though there are no tool or stress marks, the thing could have been bent from laying completely flat to its present shape.
Further oddly, there is no reference to PEH, CO anywhere on Ebay, Etsy, or the other usual sites. However, a friend used their phone app to search by picture and turned up other types of castings by PEH, CO, but none matching this item.

none match....but what were they casting???

"no reference to PEH, CO anywhere on Ebay, Etsy,"

old tool catalogs or auctions may hold some answers....

not everything can be found on the internet..
