Extremely heavy and seems to be cast. Any information you could possibly share would be appreciated. It’s unusual and I’m very interested in age/region.

Try searching google for Spanish Moorish mortar pestle.
    You’ll see many like yours.

What classifies it as Spanish-Moorish? Is it the handles? Thank you for the help!

They're called costillas or ribs in Spanish.

Thanks Debora! I’ve looked thru pages of examples, but the photos show mortars that are are not as crudely made as the one I have. I wonder about the age, whether Spanish or French. Is is possible to find out the age of bronze (test)? I’m a real fan of history and the more I learn the better!

Brass. And sorry. Not a clue as to how to determine age. Frankly, if older, I'd expect it to be better made. Here's another example with ribs or handles. Correct above. I see in Spain this design is often identified as an "Arab" or "Jewish" mortar.
