Carved wood statue .. African? touristware or original old tribal art?

    Thank you for any light you can shed on this 25" tall carved wood statue. It appears to have some age to it but I know sometimes they make things to look old. Is it indeed African?

    It does indeed look african, holding a traditional adze .
    I don't recognize it as being from a distinct people, nor do I believe it is old.

    Imho...

    similar but.....while the one below is a $1500 Senufo carving from the 1950's...
    yours is not .

    Yours is tourist art and may have been carved by anyone not even remotely connected to the Senufo tribe...within the last 30 years.
